3 FO's this week!

I managed to get the Lacy Kerchief Scarf, the Baby Albert, and a checkerboard scarf off the needles this week. They all came out great. On Wedesday last week I went to Knitting in La Jolla to look for some cute buttons for the Baby Albert and found some cute Scottie dog ones. I bought 5 for the jacket and scored some really nice Rowan Cork in a very pale blue. It was on sale for 50% off and I couldn't leave the store without getting something for myself. I'm planning on making the Simply Marilyn sweater. You can get the pattern free from They made it in a really pretty pink but I think the color I got will look good too. The pattern yields a huge sweater so I am knitting Marilyn in a tighter gauge. The pattern calls for 3 st/in and I'm knitting it in 4 so that it will fit me.

Since I finished 3 FO's, I have room for 3 more. I cast on for 3 more projects. I am knitting a really simple ribbed hat in some leftover blue yarn. I was going to make it for my boyfriend but he ridiculed the color saying that it was a "beat me up blue". So it's now for me. I'll need it for those cold Michigan days. I also cast on for an Angelina Jacket from White Lies Designs. I bought the pattern and the yarn from Elann. Now I appreciate Joan's mission to bring stylish knit patterns to larger women but the smallest size in the pattern was for a 40" bust. It says 36" but the fabric I knit on my gauge swatch was really stretchy. So I modified the pattern a bit. For the back, instead of casting 180 to get a 20" back, I cast on 140 stitches to get a 16" back. Hopefully, I'll just have to modify the front and the back.

The last project is the Marilyn sweater. I have high hopes for this one. It is the nicest yarn and knits up quickly. I also tried the cable pattern in my gauge swatch and found out that cables aren't as scary as I thought. By blindly following the directions about slipping stitches onto a cable needle and knitting the appropriate number of stitches then knitting the stitches off the cable needle, I made the cable for the sweater! It is always exciting to learn a new skill.

I'm posting the pics to my FO's on photobucket right now. It is taking forever with my dialup connection. So I'll post the link to my photobucket account after I figure out what it is. I have two albums, Finished Objects and On the Needles. Of course all my finished projects will be in Finished Objects. If you have comments about my projects, please let me know! No one in my family is a knitter so they all think that my knitting is great. But I'd appreaciate honest feedback.

PS: Here are the pictures of the projects I finished this week. I added a link in the side bar too. Enjoy!

Those buttons are very cool.

I have found cabling to be totally addictive.

I wish I was as productive...

Congrats on MSU!
